The Quiet I Keep Filling With Noise
When you stop long enough to hear it
Sitting by the edge of the river, no sound but the cicadas and the birds. It feels like a different world.
When I’m here without my phone, without any agenda, it feels so unlike every other hour of my life. I’m always solving something. Building, brainstorming, processing. But maybe I don’t listen enough. To the quiet. To the things God made just as they are.
Isn’t there a verse about His invisible attributes being seen in the things He’s made? Romans, I think.
But maybe it’s not even the seeing. Maybe it’s just being in the things He’s made — those places that crack my heart and mind open a little, to Him, and to my own soul.
I’m a mystery to myself.
I need Him to teach me. To guide me. To speak to my heart in the quiet I keep filling with noise.
Lord, help me stay in the quiet a little longer today — long enough to actually hear You.
